Dental Fillings in Grover Beach, CA
What is a Dental Filling?

Dental fillings are procedures used to restore small defects and/or damages caused by decay, where most of the tooth is still intact and has strength. Fillings restore the tooth back to its normal function and shape.
-
Composites resins are tooth colored materials made of glass and resin. Composites are used both as fillings and to repair defects in the teeth. They are an effective, good looking choice to restore your teeth.

How Do I Know if I Need a Filling?

Only your dentist can detect whether you have a cavity or damage that needs to be filled.

During checkup exams, at WhiteCrest Smart Dentistry we do thorough visual observation, take x-rays and use cavity-detecting dye.

There are many reasons you may need a filling:
-
Decay
-
Cracked or broken teeth.
-
Teeth that are worn from unusual use such as tooth grinding, nail biting.
-
Replace an existing filling that is leaking, cracked or overhung.
Steps to a Filling

They are usually placed in one appointment. Once the tooth area is numbed, your dentist will:

-
Remove any decay, shape and clean the tooth, so it will securely hold the filling.
-
When the decay is close to the nerve of the tooth, we will apply special medication for added protection.
-
Next, we will carefully place the resin into the prepared tooth, layer by layer. A special light is used to harden each layer.
-
Then, we will shape the contours of the filling, check the fit and your bite.
-
We make sure you will be able to floss around the tooth.
-
Lastly, we give a final polish to the filling.
